With my job role I come across many barriers to communication, anything that stops an individual being able to communicate is a barrier. You should ensure that your body language and facial expressions are clear and that when you speak to an individual ensure that you always speak slowly and clearly and that you check their understanding in case it needs to be repeated to them. If you ask an individual a question you need to give them the time to process it and answer in their own time. You should make sure that you do not make it difficult where possible for an individual to understand you and you should communicate with them in a language that is appropriate to them using any equipment or aids that they require.
