“To Kill A Mockingbird”, by Kathryn Erskine, gives the reader the message that every human being should be treated with dignity. In “To Kill A Mockingbird” The Main Character is Scout Finch and she is also the narrator of the story, who’s real name is Jean Louise. Scout lives with her father Atticus Finch and her brother Jem Finch in Maycomb, Alabama, during Great Depression. The conflicts between the main characters started when Atticus decided to represent Tom Robinson after Bob Ewell accuses Tom of raping his daughter, Mayella. Also, Jem and Scout are taunted by other children for their father’s decision. I would recommend this book because the problems the characters face are still relevant in our society, the characters are memorable, and despite it being a classic it was very exciting and not at all boring.
Spreading the message of Treating everybody with respect was Kathryn Erskine intent because it was properly shown with harsh and realistic examples throughout the book.
