To help combat the problem of the sales stop gathering at the front of the store and leaving certain areas of the store unattended, some managers have assigned employees to specific areas within the store. This also has created a bit of a problem due to the fact that some employees may be placed in areas with lower traffic or lower priced products. There have already been complaints of lower paychecks due to this new policy.
One of the problems that come up is with the expectancy theory. The sales employees are too worried about being able to complete their task of selling to customers because of a lack of resources in a sense, with the customer as the resource to make them money. Another problem is with organizational behavior. This is shown by the employees lack of following orders and doing the inventory like they are assigned to do.
