August 3, 2017, President Rodrigo Duterte signed the Republic Act 10931 also known as “The Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act”. The law aims to waive school fees to provide an opportunity for every Filipino to earn a higher education and a degree in SUCs and Local Universities and Colleges (LUC).
The free college tuition subsidy is for all Filipino students who enroll in undergraduate-post-secondary programs of state universities and colleges (SUCs), local universities and colleges (LUCs), private higher educational institutions (HEIs), and other publicly run post-secondary technical vocational institutions (TVIs).
