Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a major type of liver disease worldwide 1. The disease characterized by the accumulation of fat exceeding 5-10% in the hepatocyte of subjects with no history of alcohol abuse or non-viral and autoimmune liver disease 2-4. NAFLD includes a histological spectrum ranging from simple hepatocellular steatosis to steatohepatitis, advanced fibrosis, irreversible cirrhosis and even hepatocellular carcinoma 5-7. The prevalence of NAFLD in general population screening with ultrasonography is estimated to be 20 to 30% 8. Its prevalence ranges from 21.5? 31.5% in the Iranian population9. Patients with NAFLD have high risk-factors for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Given the existence of corporate risk factors between NAFLD and CVDs, cardiac-related death is one of the leading causes of mortality in individuals with NAFLD
