Micro-organisms occur in the air and dust particles originating from manure, soil and feed. Conditions that increase the dust content in the air around the milking area will increase the microbial population and lead to increased bacterial contamination of the milk particularly where hand milking is practiced. So the availability of clean and suitable milking environment is determinant factor to produce clean milk. Maintaining the sanitary condition of the barn and milking area is important for the production of good quality milk (Zelalem Yilma, 2010). Unclean milking barn is comfortable breeding of flies, which may enter in to milk and causing contamination. Hence quick spoilage of milk may occur. Urine and manure in dirty barn can also be the major factors of milk contamination if not properly disposed and managed (Mbabazi, 2005).
