In “The Other Wes Moore” the narrative shows how the Author Wes Moore and the Other Wes Moore are both comparable, but also unalike. The absence or existence of a parent can make or break a person and affect them in the long run. Both the Author Wes Moore and the Other Wes Moore grew up having no father figure. “Your father wasn’t there because he couldn’t be, my father wasn’t there because he chose not to be. We’re going to mourn their absence in different ways.”(Moore 1) The father figure absence affected both their growth distinctively. The absence for the other Wes Moore’s father impacted him terribly. Wes was not enforced with strict rules nor was he educated with guidance; which consequently led to his wrongful decisions and incarceration. “Every day. All the time,” I replied softly. I was having trouble finding my voice. It always amazed me how I could love so deeply, so intensely, someone I barely knew.?”(Moore 4) The Author Wes Moore expressed his sentimental guilt as his father’s absence gave him a stimulation to continue following the path on becoming successful in life.
