6.13. Managing Adverse Events3
Healthcare Professionals shall ensure followings during any adverse event.
6.13.1. To be open and honest in their communication with their patients/legal guardians. Explaining to the patient as promptly and fully as possible what has happened and the possible short-term and long-term consequences.
6.13.2. Acting instantly to rectify the concern, if possible, including seeking necessary help and seek appropriate advice from peer group or patient/family member.
6.13.3. Acknowledging any patient / family member distress and providing appropriate support.
6.13.4. Complying with any relevant policies, procedures and reporting requirements.
6.13.5. Reviewing adverse events and implementing changes to reduce the risk of recurrence of similar events.
6.13.6. Reporting adverse events to the relevant authority as necessary.
